Abstract: | A mathematical model has been developed for the microdistribution of the inhaled radioactive aerosol which is retained within the alveolar-pulmonary region. It is shown that the biological effect of the inhaled alpha-emitting aerosols on the lung tissue is not a uniquely defined function of a mean absorbed dose: its value depends on a number of factors responsible for the microdistribution of the radioactive substance within the alveolar region. |
