Abstract: | A case of adoption of a 1-month-old howler infant by an adult female spider monkey living in captivity and its development over a six-month period are reported. The female had adopted a spider monkey infant two years before the interspecific adoption reported here. The female displayed a strong maternal response toward the howler infant and also produced milk and fed the infant. |
