Abstract:The effect of Na~ , K~ and ABA on the activity of tonoplast ATPase in barley (Honteum vulgate cv. Aura) roots with and without treatment by 200 mmol/L NaCl for 3 d was studied. Kesuits showed that the extracted membrane fractions stemmed from tonoplast, became the activity of membranebound ATPase was inhibited by nitrate, but not by azide, vanadate and molybdate, and stimulated by chloride (Table 1), and its optimal pH was 7.5 (Fig. 1). Moreover, Na~ inhibited the activity of tonoplast ATPase and the degree of inhibition was lower in the presence of KCl. The activity of tonoplast ATPase from the control was more sensitive to Na~ than that from NaCl-treated roots (Fig. 2). ABA decreased the activity of tonoplast ATPase in barley roots treated or not treated by NaCl (Fig. 3).
