| Abstract: | Summary The size and symbiotic effectiveness, withVicia faba, ofRhizobium leguminosarum populations from five locations in southern Britain has been estimated. Population numbers varied from 4.54×103 to 1.69×105. Nitrogen fixing potential differed by up to 30%. The implications of the results for improving the productivity of field beans are discussed. |
