Abstract: | Net productivity and rates of respiration of the seagrasses Halodule uninervis (Forsk.) Aschers., Halophila ovalis (R. Brown) Hooker fil. and Halophila stipulacea (Forsk.) Aschers., from Aqaba (Jordan) are presented in this paper. The effect of some physical and chemical parameters on the productivity of H. stipulacea is discussed in some detail. Of the three species, H. stipulacea is considered a shade plant since it is photoinhibited at light intensities near 100 Wm?2 and has a productivity/respiration ratio of 1.8 at 30 m depth. |
