Characteristic Two-dimensional Patterns of Enzymatic Digests of Oncorna and Other Viral RNAs

TECHNIQUES developed in recent years by Sanger and his collaborators make possible the determination of the nucleotide sequence of large nucleic acid molecules such as ribosomal and polycistronic viral RNAs, so long as a sufficient degree of radioactive labelling can be achieved. This is not, however, always possible and the study of the RNAs of plant and animal viruses has therefore been confined largely to terminal oligonucleotide sequences^1,2.
