Abstract: | An electrophoretic analysis of glucosephosphate isomerase (GPI) in seven Italian sheep populations suggests that this locus is more polymorphic than previously supposed. The observed phenotype distributions are in agreement with the hypothesis of the existence of three codominant alleles, GPI*F, GPI*S and GPI*N, GPI*S being the most frequent (0.935 ÷ 1.000). |
