Abstract:This paper reports a numerical phylogenetic study of 38 known mosquito genera of the world. According to the procedures described by Farris (1970) and Simon et al (1982) to building a standardized, rooted, and optimized Wagner tree.The Wagner tree of 38 genera of culicid mosquitoes forming 3 sectional branches and 14 groups. The first sectional branch has 3 groups, it corresponds to the 3 genera belonging Ano-phelinae. The second sectional branch has 3 groups, it corresponds to subfamily Toxorhyn-chitinae and 7 genera belonging Culicinae. The third sectional branch has 8 groups, it contains 27 genera belonging the subfamily Culicinae.The phylogenetic relationships of 38 culicid mosquito genera, the taxonomic system of Culicidae, and a comparison of the results of different analytical methods were discussed. The results also gave the useful basic data for recomposition of the new natural taxonomic system of Culicidae.
