| Abstract: | Streptomyces alboniger produces the antibiotic puromycin and expresses an enzymic activity which acetylates the drug using acetyl CoA. The N-acetyl-puromycin formed is biologically inactive against protein synthesis in Bacillus subtilis (as assayed in vivo). |
