| Abstract: | Compounds produced by the polyketide ketoreductase deficient Streptomyces mutants HO61 and P67 are described. The structures of the compounds indicate that ketoreductase activity is required for correct condensation of the polyketide chain in the biosynthesis of aromatic polyketides. |
