The effect of addition and subtraction of Yueju recipe combined with probiotics on H. pylori positive patients with chronic gastritis

Objective To observe the effect of addition and subtraction of Yueju recipe combined with probiotics on gastrointestinal function, serum vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and growth hormone releasing peptide (Ghrelin) in H. pylori positive patients with chronic gastritis (CG). Methods A total of 128 H. pylori positive patients with CG in our hospital from June 2017 to June 2019 were selected and divided into the observation group or control group randomly, with 64 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with standard quadruple therapy; in addition, the control group was given probiotics, while the observation group was treated with addition and subtraction of Yueju recipe combined with probiotics. TCM efficacy, H.pylori eradication rate, rehabilitation status (time to recovery of normal gastrointestinal function, time to improvement of symptoms, length of hospital stay), incidence of adverse reactions, serum VIP, Ghrelin levels and cytokine indicators transforming growth factor β1 (TGF β1), IL 6, IL 32] before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Follow up was performed for 6 months after treatment, and the recurrence rates in 3 and 6 months after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total efficiency rate in the observation group (93.75%) was higher than that in the control group (79.69%). The time to recovery of normal gastrointestinal function, time to symptom improvement, and hospitalization time were shorter, while the H.pylori eradication rate (96.88%) was higher in the observation group than in the control group (81.25%) respectively. The serum VIP level in the observation group was lower, while Ghrelin level was higher than in the control group respectively (all P0.05). Conclusion The Addition and Subtraction of Yueju recipe combined with probiotics can significantly increase the eradication rate of H. pylori, promote down regulation of VIP on fasting and Ghrelin synthesis, inhibit inflammatory response, and promote recovery of H. pylori positive patients with CG, with satisfactory safety.
