Abstract: | Abstract— Injection of each of the branched chain amino acids into maternal rats from the 14th to 21st day of pregnancy resulted in increased levels of these compounds in fetal serum. Furthermore, these amino acids were found in high concentration in fetal brain. The elevated levels of the branched chain amino acids were associated with a disturbance of the free amino acid pool in the brain. Isoleucine appeared to have the greatest effect in depressing the other amino acids. |
