Abstract: | Using an independent protocol, we have confirmed that sporocysts of the human blood fluke, Schistosoma mansoni, synthesize antigens which stimulate rabbit antibody activity to epitopes on infermediate snail host hemocytes. This molecular mimicry may aid S. mansoni to escape the innate immune system of this host, Biomphalaria glabrata. |
