Abstract: | The exudate of excised onion roots bathed in simple KCl/CaCl2solutions contains a variety of inorganic cations and anionstogether with quantities of organic molecules. This complexityof composition contrasts with the simplicity of the exudatesof maize roots under identical conditions and presumably reflectstransfer of these materials from the onion bulb to the rootsduring growth. |
