Analysis of Lipids in Prochloron sp.: Occurrence of Monoglucosyl Diacylglycerol

Prochloron contained monogalactosyl diacylglycerol, digalactosyldiacylglycerol, sulfoquinovosyl diacylglycerol, phosphatidylglyceroland, as a minor component, monoglucosyl diacylglycerol, butno phosphatidylcholine. With respect to the lipid and fattyacid compositions, this alga is similar to the blue-green algaerather than the chloroplasts of eukaryotic plants. ¹ Present address: Department of Biology, Faculty of Science,University of Tokyo, Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo 113, Japan.
