| Abstract: | The triplex in nucleic acids results from specific hydrogen-bonding interactions between bases in a homop-urine strand of a Waston-Crick duplex and an additional oligodeoxyribonucleotide strand, which occupies the major groove of the duplex. The thermodynamic stability of triplex DNA depends on many factors, including base composition, base modifications or substitutions, DNA backbone modifications, ligand binding, salt cations and pH of reaction systems. The points for attention in the research of thermodynamics of triplex DNA are also discussed in this chapter. |
