Abstract: | SYNOPSIS. The myxosporidan Myxidium minteri was found in 3 recognized hosts, chinook and coho salmon and rainbow trout and 2 new hosts, cutthroat trout and mountain whitefish. Spores in all species examined were found primarily in the gall bladder. Fish infected with this parasite were obtained from both Oregon coastal rivers and Columbia River basin locations. In general the prevalence of infection was higher in the fish in coastal rivers. |
