Abstract:
In addition to four kaurane and kaurene diterpenes, the stem bark of Xylopia acutiflora yielded a dimeric diterpene derived via Diels-Alder condensation of kaurene and labdane monomers. The structure of the dimer, which has been given the trivial name acutifloric acid, was assigned on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis.
