Abstract: | The nucleotide (nt) sequence was determined for an isolate of hepatitis C virus (HCV) derived from cirrhotic tissue of a patient with hepatocellular carcinoma. The 9408-nt sequence (EMBL Acq. No. X61596) showed homology of 90.7-91.4% on the nt level, as compared to two Japanese isolates from patients with a high titer of serum transaminase, 78.4-78.8% to those obtained in the United States, and 65.0% to that from an asymptomatic Japanese carrier. The phylogenetic tree of the six isolates classified them into three groups. |
