Abstract: | (S)-2-Iodo-1-phenylethanol has been synthesized and shown to be a reagent for the stereochemical analysis of chiral inorganic 16O, 17O, 18O]thiophosphate. R and S Inorganic 16O, 17O, 18O-labeled thiophosphates were synthesized and treated with the iodo compound to give chirally labeled 1(S)-phenylethanol-2-S-thiophosphate, which after cyclization with diphenylphosphoryl chloride followed by methylation with diazomethane could be distinguished by 31P NMR spectroscopy. The cyclization step was shown to proceed with inversion of configuration at phosphorus. |
