Abstract: | The effects of fasting and refeeding on the AK isozymes in liver and kidney were studied in three strains of mice. Our studies showed that changes in total AK activity and AK isozyme patterns were associated with fasting and refeeding. The AK isozyme changes were strain-dependent, differing in kind and degree among the three strains. It was concluded that species, strain and individual isozyme identities should be included in studies defining changes of enzyme activity owing to changes in physiological conditions. |
