Abstract: | Summary Several crosses werer made between some races of peas frequently grown in Holland for culinary purposes. Of these Blauwpeul is a large brown seeded pea with indent seeds. It has pigment in its testa, but does not possess the factor for spots.Krombek, a pea with curved pods, yellow cotyledons and pigmentless testa possesses this factor for spots; thus the cross Krombek x Blauwpeul gives spotted seeds in the F1.Kroonerwt, a green pea with big globular seeds has also the spto factor, but American Wonder, green with wrinkled seeds, has not. Low Cape Capucin has small spotted seeds of indent shape. Crossed with American Wonder it gives rise to all kinds of peas, but a remarkable fact in all crosses mentioned is, that where pigment is present in the testa, the form of the seeds always is indent. Pure wrinkled and globular seeds have colourless testa. The factor for indent is hyperstatic over globular. |
