| Abstract: | Plasmid RP4 (among others) has been transferred from Escherichia coli to Rhodopseudomonas sphaeroides. Data bearing on the physical presence of the plasmid and its expression of drug resistance determinants in R. sphaeroides are presented. Conditions of transfer between R. sphaeroides strains, between R. sphaeroides and R. capsulata, and between R. sphaeroides and E. coli have been carefully defined. |
