| Abstract: | 1. The physical composition of the semen of Barbus aeneus (smallmouth yellowfish) was determined. 2. The mean values and standard deviations for some of the physical properties were as follows: sperm count = 8.41 x 10(6)/mm3 +/- 2.55; percentage live cells = 92.5% +/- 9.92; spermatocrit = 61.9% +/- 5.74 and the total motility = 65 +/- 8.95. The colour of the sperm samples were white while the viscosity varied between 2 and 3 on the scale 1-3. |
