Abstract: | Four experiments were conducted in Cheat Lake, West Virginia, to determine the filtering rates of zooplankton on the size fractions of phytoplankton in an acid lake. The results showed that Bosmina longirostris filtered significantly more net plankton than nannoplankton. Results for other species were not consistent in the size fraction selected. The dominance of Peridinium inconspicuum may have made the nannoplankton fraction unavailable as food for Bosmina. |
