| Abstract: | α, β-methylene-ATP, a competitive inhibitor of adenylate cyclase of liver and fat cell membrane preparations, caused a dose related inhibition of PGE1 and PGE2-induced cyclic AMP accumulation in rat anterior pituitary explants. At the same time, this ATP analog potentiated PGE1 and PGE2-promoted growth hormone secretion. The possible functional role of prostaglandins and cyclic nucleotides in the regulation of growth hormone secretion remains to be defined. |
