Correlation Analysis of Serum Levels of TBX21, SCF, Chemerin and Severity of Lupus Nephritis

ABSTRACT Objective: To study the correlation between serum levels of T-Box protein 21 (TBX21), stem cell factor (SCF), chemokine (Chemerin) and disease severity in patients with lupus nephritis (LN). Methods: 160 patients with LN who were admitted to our hospital from February 2016 to December 2019 were included in the study, and they were divided into active group with 92 cases and inactive group with 68 cases according to the degree of disease activity. In addition, 50 healthy volunteers who underwent physical examination in our hospital at the same time were selected as the control group. The levels of urea nitrogen(Bun), erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR), alexin C3, alexin C4, TBX21, SCF and Chemerin in three groups were compared and the correlation analysis was maked. The diagnostic efficiency of serum TBX21, SCF and Chemerin levels in LN was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: The levels of BUN, ESR in the active group were higher than those in the inactive group and the levels of BUN and ESR in the inactive group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of alexin C3 and C4 in the active group were lower than those in the inactive group, and the levels of alexin C3 and C4 in the inactive group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Serum levels of TBX21, SCF and Chemerin in the active group were higher than those in the inactive group, and serum levels of TBX21, SCF and Chemerin in the inactive group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). According to Pearson correlation analysis, serum levels of TBX21, SCF and Chemerin in LN patients were positively correlated with BUN and ESR levels, and negatively correlated with alexin C3 and C4 levels (P<0.05). According to ROC curve analysis, the joint detection of serum TBX21, SCF and Chemerin in the diagnosis of lupus nephritis was 0.933 under the curve, 0.95 in sensitivity and 0.91 in specificity, which were higher than the above indexes alone detection. Conclusion: Serum levels of TBX21, SCF and Chemerin in patients with LN are significantly high and they are correlated with the severity of the patient''s condition. In clinical work, the three serological indexes mentioned above could be detected in combination to help diagnose LN and determine the severity of the patient''s condition.
