Abstract:The cuticles of some insectan, chelicerate, and crustacean arthropods have been examined, and evidence obtained of the presence in the laminae of material of different composition from the remainder of the cuticle. This material is present both between the layers of crossed fibres of the balken type of cuticle, and in the plumose type of lamina. It has been observed in some instances to form a clearly defined membrane.
