Abstract:The infrared absorption properties of monodispersed, chemically and optically pure ‘amino-PEG’-bound linear homooligopeptides having the general formula t-Bx(l-Met)n NHPEG, n = 1–15 and H2+(l-Met)nNHPEG, n = 1–14 have been investigated in the solid state. The critical sizes for development of the β-structure and α-helix (n = 3 and n = 13, respectively), and the effect, on the latter, of the solvent from which the solid samples are cast, have been established.
