Abstract: | It is often assumed that a highly peaked Gaussian distribution of population characteristics would imply a similar distribution of the survival probability. Such interpretation is, however, rather arbitrary and unduly restrictive. In this article it is shown, on the contrary, that, where the characteristics depending on many genes are concerned, even a broad survival plateaux will result, under certain additional conditions, in a highly peaked nearly-Gaussian distribution of the population characteristics. |
