Abstract: | By means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy the subtransition temperature of 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) and the derivatives in which either or both of the acyl chains were deuterated were determined. It was found that, while the temperatures of the gel to liquid-crystal and the pre-transitions decrease with increasing deuteration, the temperature of the subtransition is independent of the degree of deuteration. |
