Abstract:Behavior of the RNA synthesized de novo before mitosis was studied in the synchronized cell culture of Chinese hamster fibroblasts. It was shown by means of autoradiography that the newly synthesized RNA enters cytoplasm with the onset of mitosis and returns to the nuclei of the daughter cells after mitosis.Sedimentation analysis demonstrated that the heavy proportion of RNA characteristic only for the nuclear RNA enters the cytoplasm during mitosis. Two kinds of RNA transfer from nucleus to cytoplasm are discussed: partial and irreversible transfer in interphase and complete but temporal migration during mitosis.
