Abstract: | The BCL-2 family member Noxa induces apoptosis by antagonizing the prosurvival protein MCL-1. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Lowman et al. (2010) uncover a glucose-dependent phosphoregulatory mechanism that inactivates Noxa's apoptotic function and triggers its capacity to modulate glucose metabolism. |
