Abstract:Changes in the levels of free, sedimental, and nonsedimental activity of lysosomal cysteine cathepsins in the cerebral hemisphere gray matter and cerebellum were measured in rats during chronic stress evoked with a strong physical loading. It has been suggested that the increased activity of L and H cathepsins shows an alteration of the lysosomal-vacuolar apparatus and determines the peculiarities of the general adaptation syndrome development.
