Abstract: | Summary Dense lamellar bodies (DLB) were noted in immature cells in the developing ovary of the free-tailed bat. The DLB appear to be formed in the nucleus. They pass through the nuclear membrane into the cytoplasm. There they give rise to parallel stacks of flattened cisternae which are representative of typical dictyosomes. During the first meiotic prophase the dictyosomes aggregate to form the Golgi complex. This study was supported in part by a research grant from U.S.P.H.S.
