Narcotic cue and narcotic state.

There is an increasing interest in the ability of drugs to exert stimulus control over operant responding. By stimulus control is meant here that there is an apparent relation between the stimulus constituted by drug administration, and the subsequent occurrence of an operant response. The purpose of the present review is to analyze the available literature data on stimulus control by narcotic analgesic drugs, and to discuss some of the conclusions reached thus far.
