Abstract: | Small chromosome aberrations were utilized to construct compound bands in the 3C region of Drosophila melanogaster salivary gland chromosomes. The results imply that one should expect to find multiple functions associated with single bands, especially heavy bands. It is suggested that the natural occurrence of compound bands needs to be recognized and that exceptions to the one gene: one band correspondence are expected to occur.Journal Paper No. J-9459 of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station, Ames, Iowa, Project No. 1985 |
