Detection of Glycollic Acid in Etiolated Barley Shoots

Abstract:A modified method for carboxylic acid analysis has been developedin order to study the metabolism of glycollic acid in barleysap. Glycollic, malic, citric, malonic, succinic, and fumaric acidshave been detected in alcoholic extracts from etiolated barleyshoots, and the amounts present roughly estimated.
