The Identification of the Fall or Rapid Indians

Abstract

An identification of the “Fall” or “Rapid” Indians of southcentral Saskatchewan as Hidatsa is shown to be unlikely; rather, the Fall Indians of the contact period were Algonkianspeaking bison hunters identified as Atsina.
