The effect of local anaesthetic agents on lipolysis by human adipose tissue

Prilocaine chloride, a common local anaesthetic agent with free tertiary amino groups, was shown to 1) inhibit the basal as well as the stimulated lipolysis by human subcutaneous and omental adipose tissue and 2) abolish the antilipolytic effect of insulin on these processes. A way of avoiding these undesirable effects of the local anaesthetic agent when injected $\text{in vivo}$ is described.
