Regular Aspirin Intake and Acute Myocardial Infarction |
| |
Abstract: | The results of two large independent studies involving a combined total of 776 patients treated in hospital with a discharge diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction and 13,898 patients with other discharge diagnoses showed a negative association between regular aspirin intake and non-fatal myocardial infarction. The data are consistent with the hypothesis that aspirin protects against this disease. Clinical trials are needed to determine whether this hypothesis is correct. |
