| Abstract: | The peripheral endoplasmic reticulum forms a dynamic network of interconnected membrane tubules. Although some determinants of this striking architecture are known, the mechanism underlying fusion of individual tubules has remained elusive. Two studies now identify atlastin proteins as key mediators of homotypic fusion of endoplasmic reticulum membranes. |
