Abstract:A radioimmunoassay for plasma corticosterone has been developed. Antiserum against corticosterone was produced in rabbits immunized with corticosterone -21- hemisuccinate conjugated to bovine serum albumin. The assay was practical and reliable. The coefficient of variation between assays was ± 23% and among assays was ± 8%. Plasma corticosterone of mice is measured readily by assaying directly aliquots of a methylene chloride extract of 40 μl of plasma. The mean plasma corticosterone concentration of mice was similar to that obtained by other methods.
