| Abstract: | Programmed cell death(PCD) is a active process of cell death which occurs during plant vegetative and reproductive growth.Some features of PCD were described in this piece.During vegetative growth,PCD plays a important role in performing crucial functions such as xylogenesis.PCD has been widely observed to occur during many stages of plant reproduction.These processes include megaspore cell death,synergid cell death,and antipodal cell death.Genetic,biochemical and morphological evidences suggest that PCD is essential for organ formation and development. |
