Abstract:Sections of the elongation zones of primary roots and mesocotylsof Zea mays L. were incubated with various concentrations ofhuman epidermal growth factor (EGF). The growth rates of rootsections incubated with 1,000, 100 and 10 µg liter–1EGF were higher than that of control by 15%, 26% and 14%, respectively. The rates of mesocotyl sections incubated with 100, 10, 1.0and 0.1µg liter–1 EGF were 23%, 31%, 24% and 22%higher than that of control.
