Abstract: | The administration of a commercial polychlorinated biphenyl mixture, Aroclor 1254, at a dose of 10 mg/kg/day po for 14 days to rats resulted in increases in EPN detoxification, p-nitroanisole demethylation, NADPH cytochrome reductase and cytochrome P-450 which persisted for up to four to five months. Starvation for four days prior to making these determinations caused an enhancement of this induction. This interaction may be due to mobilization of PCBs from storage sites in adipose tissue. |
