| Abstract: | Several species of the red algal genus Bostrychia were investigated for the presence of low-molecular weight carbohydrates constituting their specific assimilate pattern. All species were found to contain remarkable amounts of two hexitols, dulcitol and sorbitol. The results are discussed with emphasis on the chemotaxonomic implications. |
