| Abstract: | The structure of a galactan, obtained from the pectic polysaccharides of the midrib of the leaves of Nicotiana tabacum, was investigated by methylation analysis and partial acid hydrolysis. The galactan contained only d-galactose and was composed of a straight chain of β-(1→4)-linked d-galactopyranosyl residues. |
