Abstract: | Free ceramides isolated from A. oryzae were fractionationed into three groups by thin-layer chromatography on silica gel G according to degree of hydroxylation of the molecules. Each group was converted to trimethylsilyl ether derivatives, which were analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for the structure of the molecular species. As a result, the representative molecular species of ceramides were characterized as N-lignoceroyl-phytosphingosine (1%), N-2-hydroxylignoceroyl-phytosphingosine (31%) and N-2,3-dihydroxylignoceroyl-phytosphingosine (31%). |
