Abstract:Disseminated intravascular coagulation occurred in dogs given scorpion venom subcutaneously in doses of 3 mg./kg. body weight. Treatment with heparin reversed the coagulation abnormality of the syndrome and 10 out of 12 dogs survived. Necropsy findings in human patients stung by scorpions suggest that this syndrome also occurs in man.
